The Voyager models range has now include a range of photo etch stencils. I have grouped three of their newest US World War 2 examples for this review.
PEA120: WW2 US Army Light Tank Stenciling Templates
One large photo etch fret (for the markings of individual vehicles) is included in this set and include markings for the following Stuart Tanks
An early US Stuart from the 33rd Armoured Regiment, 3rd Armoured Division in Normandy 1944. The most prominent marking being the yellow “C-34” on the hull side.
Although not mentioned on the instructions you also receive stencils for “C-14” and “C-12” from the same unit with all the corresponding vehicle codes.
A Free French example from the 1st Armoured division during the “Rhine Crossing” in 1945. The most prominent marking being the large diamond marking on the hull side.
A 4th Marine Division vehicle on Saipan 1944. With the most prominent marking being the name “Margaret” on the side of the turret.
A 34th Tank Battalion example with the most prominent marking being a small star on the side of the Hull.
The last marking choice is a British example from the 23rd Hussars, 11 Armoured division with the most prominent marking being a large triangle on the turret.
A second fret is included 16” numbers and letters and could be used almost anywhere really. This set offers some real advantages over decals and comes highly recommended.
PEA136: WW2 US Army Tank Stenciling Templates Type 1
The second set includes one large photo etch fret of Us Stars either by themselves or in a segmented circle. Sizes covered are 4”,6”,8”10”,12”,20”25”32”36”and an extremely large 60” A four page instruction sheet is included with suggest locations for the stars on various us vehicles used during World War 2. As with the previous set the real”draw” here is that painted on look that can be achieved with the use of stencils.
PEA137: US Army Tank Stenciling Templates Type 2
The third set in this series is for the prominent codes used on us vehicles. The fret includes all the letters of the alphabet as well as the numbers zero trough to nine. With care any vehicle code could be reproduced. Just the thing if you have your heart set on doing a particular vehicle.
Thanks to
