Eduard StuG 40 Ausf. G photo-etched brass for the Revell kit in 1/72 scale

by Frank De Sisto

Eduard kit number 22052, StuG 40 Ausf. G photo-etched brass for the Revell kit in 1/72 scale. Contains two frets and four pages of instructions. Price: $22.95 USD.

With the current trend towards many new releases in the smaller scales, I thought I’d see what Eduard has to offer the Braille Scale modeler.
This set consists of two frets and four pages of instructions. The modeler is directed to begin by removing all molded on tools and fender non-skid texture from the host kit, after which new fender tread plates and all new etch tools are to be added. There are also front and rear mud flaps to be added, which will go a long way towards giving the fenders a proper scale appearance. Brackets are also provided for smoke grenade launch tubes, tow cables, jack and jack block, fire extinguisher, spare track hangers, the front and rear Notek lamp and the gun crutch.

As one would expect, there are screens provided for the engine air intakes and exhaust area, as well as the baffles and deflector plates for the areas around the exhaust pipes. The casemate receives a shield for the remote-controlled MG34 as well as belted ammunition for the MG.

The second fret includes brackets and small fittings to mount the included Scheurtzen plates. The two main brackets on either side of the casemate are a single piece each that gets folded and then placed. This allows for correct spacing and should make it easier to properly align the plates when it comes time to hang them. The same can be said for the small brackets that are attached to the left and right fenders.

Good thinking Eduard!

Highly recommended.
