I recently purchased this 1:35 scale French House and Gate by David Hay from Australian manufacturer Firestorm Models.

The set depicts a ruined house corner and stone fence made up from eight parts.

The set is available in Hydrostone , which is a gypsum cement that is an extremely hard plaster material with a very high compressive strength.

The house is also available on request in cast resin. That’s the one I have!

Detail is present on the outer surfaces only. Casting is crisp and I can’t find any imperfections on my resin parts.

Depiction of the various textures is very impressive. These include stone walls, sandstone blocks, woodgrain, broken plaster, frag damage and more.

Very little clean-up will required before assembly and painting. What you see in these photos is straight from the box – no sanding, glue or other preparation. I will give the joining surfaces a run over with a coarse sanding stick though.

I plan to use two-part epoxy glue to secure the resin parts, and Milliput White two-part epoxy cement to address any gaps.
