Steel Wheels for Tamiya Panther G

Tamiya's 1/48 scale Panther G is a nice kit which includes the standard dished, rubber rimmed road wheels.

MR Models has now released a conversion set for the final steel wheeled version of the Panther G. This set is specifically designed for the 1/48 scale Panther G kit.

The set comprises 32 parts in pale grey-green resin. Eight sets of four different parts are supplied. The inner and outer roadwheels are cast in one piece each, while the centre wheels are supplied as separate inside and outside halves.

Casting quality is generally good but around half the wheels have visible pin holes or air bubbles. These will need to be filled prior to assembly. No instructions are provided, but this should not present a problem to most modellers.

The wheels are cast onto narrow casting blocks. Some care will be required to avoid damaging the fine, delicate rim at the point where it connects to the casting strip.
