Hauler is at the forefront of the 1/48 scale military modelling boom with a large selection of useful photo-etched detail sets released every month. Increasingly, Hauler is also entering the multi-media conversion market.

Hauler has released a simple engine set for Tamiya's 1/48 scale KV-1 and KV-2 kits.

This set comprises just eight parts in cream coloured resin and a small photo-etched fret packed into a sturdy but compact box.

The resin parts are perfectly cast and detail is crisply rendered. The engine block is supplied in one piece, as is the entire engine bay - including radiators with cooling fin detail cast onto both sides. A new engine access hatch is also provided in resin. The photo-etched fret supplies the ignition harness.

Instructions are on a single strip of paper, and include four illustrations plus a parts list. The instructions are quite adequate to the task.

This is a very simple conversion. The only complication may be cutting out the engine hatch, and thinning or removing plastic from the inside of the kit hull to permit the engine bay to fit.

Hauler's KV-1 / KV-2 engine will be a real and noticeable enhancement to Tamiya's kits.
