Accurate Armour has released a number of accessories in 1/48 scale to join its recent full kits.

One of these is a deep wading conversion for Tamiya's 1/48 scale Cromwell kit.

Accurate Armour's Cromwell 75mm Deep Wading Kit comprises six parts in grey resin, 11 parts on one photo-etched fret and one length of very fine wire. The resin parts are a replacement gun barrel with integrated mantelet and breech covers, and covers for the driver's aperture, hull machine gun and three periscopes.

The photo-etched brass fret provides the tall wading screen for the engine deck, the hatch trunk for the turret, plus various small details and fittings.

Casting quality is generally excellent. The only imperfections on my sample was one largish hole left by a bubble during casting underneath the hull machine gun cover. However, this will be very easy to repair using Milliput or a similar filler.

The rear face of this machine gun covered is keyed to the opening in the kit hull - a nice touch.

The parts are cast onto a single resin strip (which will be very easy to remove and fast to clean-up) except for the gun barrel, which is supplied on its own small casting block. A minute in company with a razor saw will take care of this little job.

The instructions are supplied on a half A4 sheet in full colour, with four photos to illustrate the positions of the conversion parts.

Accurate Armour's Deep Wading Set will have a major impact on the outline of your Tamiya Cromwell, and will be within the skill range of most modellers too.
