3rd Canadian Army at Juno Beach, June 6, 1944
Guy DeLillio

This scene is based on a famous film portraying the arrival of the Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry Highlanders near the village of Bernieres late morning. The timbered house in the images was scratch built from scraps of cardboard and plastic housing parts. There are a number of vehicles in the scenes, some have appeared in other dioramas but many are new. LCI 299 was scratch built from bow to stern from the waterline. There is a considerable amount of action happening including the unfolding of No.1 Troop bridge in the background. Most of the Canadians are 20mm Battleground Miniatures obtained from my friend George Guererra. I happened upon a set of Ho bicycles and added them to the diorama since many of these battalions employed such means of transportation.
