Missing Lynx Exposition 2005
|
Theme:
The war in Iraq: 2003 - Present
Aim: The intent of this expo
is for you to have some fun sharing your work with the rest
of Missing Lynx. We want to see & read about your subject
throughout the entire process, from selection and research,
to painting and weathering, and everything in between.
Rules:
- Subject must have been present in Iraq after 1 January 2003.
- Any ground vehicle is eligible; including tanks, artillery,
air defence guns & missile, APC, trucks, and armoured cars.
- Any figure / bust is eligible.
- All scales are eligible.
- Entries must be photographed and hosted on the internet by
your own means, and will have to indicate you hold the copyright
(either a watermark or just write under the picture). We’ll
also require your real full name and a valid email address.
- Entries must be completed & posted on the DG by the contest
closing date to be eligible for the draw.
- The Missing Lynx Expo is open to modellers from all nations.
How to play:
Select the subject you’d like to model. You can
build as many as you like, but you’ll only get one chance
at the draw. There are several coalition countries to select
from, and of course any Iraqi or UN vehicles are also eligible.
Register on the Modern Discussion Group. Its easy & free
- just make a post on the Modern DG by 1 May 05 stating what
you want to build. If we all put “Expo 2005” somewhere
in the thread title, it will make it easier to track (ie Expo
2005: Johnny Bloggin’s Challenger 2).
As your work progresses, post pictures to the Modern Discussion
Group (there won’t be a separate contest DG this year).
If you don’t have a reliable photo hosting site, sign
up for a Network54 account.
If you have any questions at all about the expo, just post them
in the Modern DG. If you want to ask about something off-line,
email me at gcdavidson@hotmail.com
Remember, the point is to share your work as it progresses to
a finished kit. If you are doing something unique with respect
to building, painting, or weathering, then photograph it, describe
it, and share it with your other modern amigos.
Timeline:
Now: Expo starts, begin selecting your subject
1 May: Deadline for registration & topic selection
1 September 2005: Builds completed & prizes drawn
for finished work (end date is not set in stone yet)
Prizes:
Although this is a display venue and not a contest like we have
held in past years, there will still be some prizes available. This
year, everyone who participates will have their names entered
into a virtual “door prize” draw for one of three
gift packages. We’ve decided to shift the focus from a
competition format to an exposition, in order to allow modellers
of all skill levels an equal chance at taking home some hardware.
An additional award will be presented to the best model as selected
by the other entrants.
Stay tuned for more details on composition of prize packs.
ML/Osprey staff are encouraged to contribute but are ineligible
for the prize draw. |
