Covenanter in Polish Service

The vehicles belong to 10. Brygada Kawalerii Pancernej (10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade), an armoured component of 1st Polish Armoured Division.   The Brigade's regiments were (in order of seniority):

- 1. Pulk Pancerny (1st Armoured Regiment);

- 2. Pulk Pancerny (2nd Armoured Regiment);

- 24. Pulk Ulanow im. hetmana J. Zolkiewskiego (24th Lancers).

The photos were taken in Scotland, 1943. The majority depict tanks on manoeuvres but two of them depict a moment when new troopers were sworn in. From that moment on they were considered the true members of regimental family.

Several months later 1st Armoured Division reveived its Shermans and Cromwells in which they fought so bravely in Normandy, Flanders, for Scheldt Estuary, Holland and finally Wilhelmshaven.
