WWII Japanese Nambu Pistol

LS, 1/1 scale

by Harvey Low

Description

Inspired by the movie LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA, this old out-of-production plastic model gun kit was built straight from the box with a reproduction IJA officer's lanyard cord added for interest.

I used a combination of TAMIYA lacquer spray and GUNZE acrylic paints, which I intentionally let "react" and "bleed" together to get a worn metal appearnace. I had to mix a combination of blues, black, dark greys and silver to get the "gun blue" finish I wanted.

This was quite a different build than what I confess to be my favourite 1/72 subjects, and a real challenge due to the 1/1 scale.
